Hello friends,

Just thought I would share the imaginary scenario or set-up for our Syllabus Design project.  David and I agreed to create our Syllabus Design, and other subsequent assignments/projects with the following premise or scenario:

We have been asked by the Girls and Boy Scouts Council of America, to give a training to various local scout leaders, based on the apparent lack of skills, knowledge and experience necessary for the scout leaders to facilitate camping, and/or wilderness outings.

It had been reported by several parents involved in previous scouting trips that a number of "mistakes" or near-accidents had occurred and thus there had been reason for concern before future trips could be allowed.  Therefore safety training was of utmost concern.  As well, the leader's skills for numerous camping activities needed to be strengthened in order for the girls/boys to see the leaders as stronger role models for such.

Additionally, the parents, and the girls and boys themselves, had indicated a lack in actual skills training being provided during the earlier trips.  As many of the girls/boys were participating in such trips for acquisition of scouting badges this was of particular relevance.  The troop leaders had also felt that they were handing out badges without being fully confident that the kids had mastered the related skills.

Hope you have enjoyed hearing about our imaginary scenario.  Further blogs will be provided regarding our imaginary participant learners.  And of course, the Syllabus Design is on the horizon!

Ciao... Alexia!
